Fix Your Mistakes...It's the Moral Thing to Do

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In putting in my windows a huge gap existed between the patio and sliding glass door. It was filled in with some sort of grout that made my papers look bad...really bad.

The company said they were not in the paving business and therefore weren't responsible. HELLO! They made the mess!

A threatened them with Facebook. Suddenly, they were more receptive.

Gabriel and Christian came by and offered me a solution. They were very nice and assured me I would be pleased.

Worse company to repair

I had a problem with installing a sliding door lock; it fell off. I had to wait 6 months for someone to come and fix it.

The repair person came and said it was fixed. I tried it later, but it still does not lock. I called them in July, and they are telling me they will not be able to correct it until December.

What a complete joke! Do not do business with them.

Aggressive towards customers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The Power Remodeling consultant, Phillip Coles, was highly aggressive when questioned about the company. He spouted a bunch of nonsense about how people need to trust the company and he collapsed under pressure like a house of cards.

He was asked to leave but returned to the house. He continued to say that we couldn't afford the windows. Fortunately, my husband was home because this guy seemed to have some serious anger issues.

Power should be embarrassed. We're glad we didn't choose this company.

Filed a Cease and Disist on 8/22/24 against them from returning to my property. Also got on their no knock, and do not call list with customer service after complaining. They don't have a permit to operate in my county or city, and blatantly disregarded legal signage.

Dishonest sales tactics

We chose Power Home Remodeling for windows because a family member used them and had a great experience. The sales team told us during our home inspection for the windows that our attic was 150 degrees and that we needed to purchase their radiant barrier.

He said it would reduce the temperature drastically in the attic, make our HVAC last longer and it wouldn't have to work so hard. We had it installed. Today it was 100 degrees outside and in excess of 160 degrees in the attic. Power initially sent people out to uncover vents they covered during installation, with no improvement noted.

We were told today that they can do nothing more for us, that our ventilation is the problem, and we need to have a contractor install more vents.

Never did the salesman state that the barrier would only work if we added more ventilation. We paid around 10k for a product we should never have been sold in the first place.

They will not compensate if damage is done due to siding.

Also the window they were supposed to send me to replace my faulty one, they only sent half. No response when I try to get answers or responses.

Resolved: Poor Warrenty Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Dec 19, 2023

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I wrote the company an email and they responded back via phone call telling me the guy who was here miscommunicated.

All windows will be replaced, there are two warranties, one on the windows and one on the workmanship to install the windows.

The three windows that were removed and rehung by the other contractor are under warranty, but if there are any leaks around them, that is on the other contractor. I am fine with that, it makes sense.

Original review Nov 19, 2023
I had my gutters, windows, roof and siding installed by Power Windows. The install was wonderful, the follow up on warrenties not too great.

I reported a window that a contractor wanted to replace because the seal was broken. Told him no, it had a life time warranty. I called and two years later, half the window was finally replaced. In the meantime one of the door to door salesmen informed me that I needed new windows, I told him they were probably just dirty but he insisted the seals were broken, I said that's funny they are your windows, He told me to report them, When called to set up install for the bathroom window replacement I told them I needed the other windows checked based on their saleman's observations.

23 out of 24 windows have a broken seal, the only window with no damage is an interior window between the family room and enclosed back porch, no exposure to weather. I was told that 3 of the windows will not be covered because they were reframed when I had to replace an exterior wall, They were touched by another contactor so the warranty is void on them. 23 out of 24 windows have issues, I think that is pretty good indication the issue is the windows not something the other contractor did. The 20 windows will take 6 to 9 months to come in, I also have a piece of siding coming down, I had to set up an appointment for that.

It will be March (this is November) before that can be fixed. It is blowing in the wind and the side of my house is exposed, How much more damage is going to be done over the winter before that siding is fixed?

I am not happy and will no longer be recommending Power Homes to people. I should not have to fight or wait extended periods of time for my warranty work to be done,

Pros:
  • Good up front work
Cons:
  • Look for excuses not to honor warrenty
  • Higher price than others
  • Long turn around time on warranty work

Power homes called me today, said there was a misunderstanding between the guy who was here and me. The windows that were reframed are still covered but the workmanship portion of the warranty is void since the other contractor reframed them.

That is understandable to me.

My siding repair has been moved up to January since there was a cancellation. If they have an opening sooner they will contact me and if the condition worsens, I am to contact them.

Power Home Remodeling is a terrible company. As a former employee, I was able to see how poorly treated the customers are.

Power will charge its customers up to 3x what competitors will charge for the same product. On top of that, once you are a customer, if the install crew did not do the job to your satisfaction, it is extremely difficult to get someone back out to do repairs.

This company does not deliver on its promises, it does not treat its employees or its customers well. I would avoid at all costs

Installed new roof shingles with no permit from town building dept.
I hired Power to replace the worn out shingles on my roof, They said they would take care of permits with the town building dept. 2 years later I needed a permit for install of a generator and propane gas system. The town will not issue me any more permits since Power Home Remodeling never completed the permit requirements for the roof replacement which is now considered an ileagal installation that is not compliant with town building codes.

If I have to have the entire job re done to comply with local codes I will contact a lawyer and file suit against Power Home Remodeling.make sure the contractor you choose is licensed for your locality and insured. Have them furnish you with a printed copy of the permit for the work to be done including the permit number.

BUYER BEWARE! This company does not honor its warranty.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Over the years we have relied on the Power Home Remodeling Group to replace 25 of our old, casement windows with newer, sealed windows and screens. We chose Power based on their lifetime warranty (95% satisfaction per their website) and their many positive reviews.

The window quality also seemed excellent.

It became apparent within a few years that many of their windows were poorly sealed. Moisture appeared between the panes, allowing a greenish mold or algae to form, clouding the view out.

In May of 2022 i.e. 15 months ago a warranty inspector finally came, and approved the need to replace at least 12 of those windows. He did explain that due to supply-chain issues, it might be a year (thats 12 months) till the warranty completions.

But that was the last we ever heard from them.

Power Home Remodeling never took any initiative to update us. Now its fifteen months -- 15! since that warranty inspection. Thats plenty long enough, and our patience has run out.

So, I finally took the initiative to reach out to Power to get some action.

Power Home Remodeling Group makes it impossible to reach their top management and dealing with their customer service felt like little more than a run-around. I finally got a call from someone in their warranty department who wanted to give me an update. I dont want an update! I want action.

I want the warranty work to be done! Now!

Once we were happy to recommend Power Home Remodeling Group on the basis of their front end performance.

But once they have your money, they dont stand behind their product. BUYER BEWARE!

UPDATE 11/9/2023 It’s a pleasure, once again, to breakfast at our kitchen table overlooking our garden and the birds at our feeders gazing through the crystal clear replacement windows recently installed by Power Home Remodeling group’s warranty service department! And I’m happy to report that the same could be said for all twelve windows that had to be replaced under warranty.

It’s true that In August, after a 15 month wait for service, I had to complain to their CEO level executives to get action. But I want to acknowledge that I got a very prompt and apologetic reply from their VP for Customer Support, Beth Mowery.

Explaining, but not excusing, the long delay for warranty action, she took charge of expediting and personally oversaw the replacement installation. Shakespeare wrote, “All’s Well That Ends Well.” Well … I may not be happy that it took 15 months, but “all’s well that ends well.” So my thanks to Beth Mowery and the installation technicians of Power Home Remodeling.

Bad business practices

Very pushy salesman who rushed through his presentation. I did sign the contract and quickly found out that there was very little time to review the contract.

Be very weary of the content and wording of the contract. Many loopholes. I had many calls with questions about the project and was treated with disrespect, repeatedly interrupted and spoken over. I was asked for payment before the work was completed.

When I said Id wait the salesmen kept giving me multiple ways of paying that dayThis is the most unprofessional company I ever dealt with. I would never recommend Power Home Remodeling to anyone.

A smooth talking sale man approached me in BJs and convinced me to replace all my windows . I financed the project and had it done .

$22 thousand later and a few months after they were installed we notices spots on our large bay window. We called and reported the problem . We were told the seal was damaged and mold was forming inside the glass. Power window told us it would take a year to get a new window .

I was beyond pissed .They said they were having problems with the supplier and there nothing we can do . Little while after that we noticed two more windows with mold . This time they told us they would send us the replacement wndows . Of course that never happened .

Now more than a year later and many phones calls we still have to look through mold spotted windows . . I dont care what their problem is with the supplier , they should still honor their warranty in a timely manner .

I need to keep my blind down all the time and its extremely embarrassing when we have company . Im ready to seek legal advice.

Called June 10, 2022 - now 15 month mark. Was informed that replacement still not in and I need to wait another week or two.Check out BBB or Consumer Complaints board.

This company is all over the place. How BBB is giving them A+ rating is beyond me.https://***/case/vasco-v-power-home-remodeling-grp-llcLink to class action suit they lost (would liek to see similar here for windows).https://***/warranty/Site shows warranty and for windows it indicates Northeast Building Products as window supplier. I don't know if this is prior supplier or current.

Site is still functional tho.Check on line for new partnership with Pella - looks as tho PHRG has switched window suppliers. Still wouldn't trust them for anything.

Called April 4, 2022 - and was put off until June - that's the 15 month mark.

Updated by user Mar 25, 2022

They have not contacted me directly. I've only received responses from the complaint posts, which we know are worthless.

They have my information, they could call me if they wanted to resolve this responsibly.

Instead they post a PR response.I've called them several times and now have a time frame of when PHRG is expecting to receive the replacement window around first two weeks of April. No word or contact as yet.

Still no commitment for warranty replacement of single window after 13 months.

Original review updated Jun 10, 2022
Purchased windows and installation in 2015 (project 31-4****). One window lost seal and clouded over (see picture).
Called PHRG in March 2021.

Initially they told me this was a simple replacement of single sash.
Called a week later and was told the replacement would not come until November 2021.
Called in November (twice) and was told delay was now to spring of 2022. This is a single sash, mind you.
Called February 2022 and was told replacement windows are 12-14 months and no update on my claim.
Called March 2, 2022 and was told they are now waiting on replacement window due first week of April. After that, service would be scheduled. This would be 13 months after initial contact for warranty service!
Read other complaint sites, and you'll see Power has been building and installing windows all throughout 2021.
Called April 4, 2022 and spoke with Joshua.

He informed me that previous person I spoke with was incorrect on date given above. Now the date was pushed out to June indicating that they (Power) has 12-15 months lead time (change again). Why would anyone do business with this company???
Power has not honored their warranty yet - it will take over a year for such a simple replacement.

Meanwhile, they are still selling windows to unaware new customers.
Called June 10, 2022 and yep - you guessed it, the replacement window is not done yet. They asked me to wait another week or two.
Read the reviews on BBB - you will see hundreds of customer reviews complaining about same thing.
https://powerwarranties.com/warranty/
From this link you can see that Northeast Building Products Corp is window supplier to PHRG.
https://www.pella.com/how-to-buy/partners/power-by-pella/request-quote/
From this link you can see PHRG has partnered with Pella.
Perhaps PHRG's replacement issue has to do with dropping one supplier for another
